Dominant Taddy drop a point as title race hots up
WITH only five points separating the sides chasing the second promotion spot,
TADCASTER LADIES ISTS were unhappy to drop a point at Halifax.
A heated encounter on a chilly morning, centre forward Sam Green was forced to play in goal as the regular 'keeper was working.
And her nerves were tested early on as the disorganised Taddy side gave away half a dozen short corners - with only improvised 'keeping and experienced defending keeping Halifax at bay.
Eventually thing started to go Taddy's way and the team put together some lovely passing.
And Tad managed to take the lead when some inspired play from centre back Stacey Wilton saw her driving the ball the length of the pitch before passing to Rebecca Cattle who netted.
After this, Taddy began to take control and put on a torrent of pressure until half-time.
The second half saw very much of the same with Tadcaster havmg at least 75 per cent of the possession.
Occasionally caught on the break, though, Taddy's midfield and defence did well to get back and protect the rookie 'keeper.
However, as Tad passed the ball confidently and looked in control, a mistake with ten minutes to go led to a short cor ner which was dispatched to leave the scores level.
And though the last ten minutes saw an absolute onslaught in the Halifax goal by Tadcaster who were desperate not to drop a point with Leeds Ists breathing down their necks, ten short corners couldn't provide the breakthough.
