Albion revolution could still end with promotion

  By Tom Cullimore

TADCASTER Albion boss Jim Collis insists his side remain well placed for promotion to the NCE Premier League.

The high-flying Park outfit are within touching distance of the first division summit and Collis believes his charges are more than capable of mounting an assault on the league's leading pack.

Despite currently occupying sixth position, Albion are just five points away from top spot with three games in hand over table-topping Garforth Town.

Collis is now eyeing a place in the top division as he bids to step up the Tadcaster Albion revolution.

"We're capable of beating anybody in this league," he said. "The next three games will be tricky. But once we've got those out ofthe way, we could win all the, remaining games. I can't visualise it, but we're capable of doing it.

"So the aim has to be to get out of this division. We've already beaten most of the top teams, so why not? I want to do it this season - and we're not out of it by a long chalk.

"We went to Sutton, who were right up there, and knocked the stuffmg out of them. We've proved that we can compete with anybody so I don't see why we shouldn't be looking to go up."

As well as their electric early league form, Collis has been heartened by his troops' cup performances since taking over in The Park hot- seat.

Despite being knocked out of the FA Cup and the FA Vase, Albion have ruffled the feathers of some higher-level opposition in both competitions this season.

"We went to Silsden and, although they beat us, we put in a really good performance and I was disappointed to lose," Collis said.

"And they went to Harrogate Railway - who are top of the Premier League and walloped them. So I'm sure we can mix it in the league above.

"There are probably four or five teams who would be able to make a go of it and I think that we're one of them.

We've got some very good players at Tadcaster.

"There are some good lads who are a bit disappointed not to be in the first team. But that's the way things go some times - and I'd rather that they were frustrated than just sitting around accepting the situation.

"It shows a desire to play for this club and that's exactly the attitude we’ll need if we’re going to go up”.

Albion return to league action in a week's time when they make the trip to Lincoln Moorlands on January 8th.
