Tadcaster Recycling scheme gets bigger and better
|

TADCASTER Recycling scheme gets bigger and better, residents can now do their extra bit for the environment by using a new can recycling service.
Following a successful pilot project in Sherburn-in-Elmet, aliminum and steel cans will now be collected from residents' doorsteps in their blue collection boxes.

The can recycling is part of the district-wide Don't Bin it, Box it service, in which residents can also have glass, paper and card collected from their properties. By using the service, residents recently helped Selby District Council exceed national recycling targets set for local authorities.

Chair of Selby District Council's Environment Board, Chris Metcalfe, said: "Expanding the can recycling service to Tadcaster is bringing an extra 5,000 new homes into the scheme.
"I would like to thank the residents of Tadcaster for the enthusiastic way they have embraced the glass, paper and card recycling, and I am sure they will also make the can recycling a great success. All residents have to do is wash out their aluminium and steel cans and leave them in the blue boxes which they already use."

Selby District Council Chief Environmental Health Officer, Mike Thompson, added: "Bringing can recycling to Tadcaster is part of Selby District Council's commitment to providing a comprehensive recycling service which benefits the whole community by reducing the amount of waste going into landfill sites.
The Don't Bin it, Box it scheme is proving a great success and that's down to the efforts of residents across the Selby district who regularly separate out their waste for recycling."
